SOUTH AFRICAN MANGO GROUP PROPOSES GLOBAL INFORMATION SHARING MECHANISM

Dear Will

Greetings from South Africa

It is early spring here in South Africa and the flowering on the Mango trees have put us in a very positive spirit for the coming season.

The reason for this mail is that I would like to try and set-up an International Mango Production, Marketing and Promotions Working Group, on a similar basis to the AMAP working group aimed at sharing marketing and production information on a Global platform within the Avocado industry. See the attached document.

This working group has been of great value to the Avocado industry and I think something similar for the international Mango industry could add value for all the participating countries.

I want to try and get like-minded industry representatives from Mango producing countries involved in such an initiative with the hope that we could set up our first official meeting at next year’s Fruit Logistica in BerIin 2012.

Please let me know if you or any other individuals would like to get involved and participate in such an effort.

Kind regards

Rudolf Badenhorst
